ISTANBUL TEMPERATURES

2023

A loop video with a runtime of 1 minute and 27 seconds.

Created for the VCD220-Creative Coding Class using Processing

Indiviual Project
Aligned with the OCULUS II concept, this project reflects how weather shapes collective mood, fostering a sense of unity among Istanbul's residents. Imagining how an Istanbulite might feel in a cold January of 1860, deepened my sense of empathy and connection across time, highlighting how Istanbul's "personality" influences its people. This project visualizes the history of Istanbul's climate by displaying monthly average temperatures from 1839 to 2013. Using red and blue to represent temperatures between O and 30 degrees, the colors convey the sensory experience of warmth and cold.
